Welcome to Ledger Live Desktop — the secure platform to manage your Ledger hardware wallet directly from your computer. This guide walks you through downloading, installing, and getting started safely with your digital assets.

1. What is Ledger Live Desktop?

Ledger Live Desktop is the official desktop application that allows you to manage your cryptocurrencies using your Ledger hardware wallet. It’s designed to keep your private keys offline and secure while giving you full access to your assets, portfolio insights, and transaction management tools.

2. Download Ledger Live Desktop

To start, visit the official Ledger website at ledger.com/ledger-live. Choose the version compatible with your operating system:

3. Install Ledger Live on Your Desktop

  1. Run the downloaded installation file.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
  3. After installation, open Ledger Live from your desktop.
  4. Choose your language and agree to the terms and conditions.

Once installed, you can connect your Ledger device and begin setup or login.

4. Connect Your Ledger Device

Use the USB cable provided with your Ledger hardware wallet to connect it to your desktop. For Nano X users, Bluetooth connectivity is available for mobile use, but desktop connections are USB-only for maximum security.

5. Set Up or Log In

  1. Open Ledger Live and click Get Started.
  2. Select your device model (Nano S, Nano S Plus, or Nano X).
  3. Choose Set up as new device or Restore from recovery phrase.
  4. Enter your PIN directly on your Ledger device.
  5. Wait for Ledger Live to recognize and sync your device.
Tip: Never type your recovery phrase on your computer — it should always remain offline and written down safely.

Device Not Detected

Check your USB cable and ports. Restart Ledger Live and reconnect your device. For Windows users, ensure Ledger drivers are correctly installed.

Ledger Live Won’t Open

Restart your computer and reinstall the app from the official website. Delete any older versions before reinstalling.

PIN Forgotten

If you forget your PIN, reset your device and restore it using your 24-word recovery phrase. Without the recovery phrase, your funds cannot be accessed.
